Tribes of the City are known for their powerfully dense live sound, their hypnotic guitars and the singer's mesmerizing vocals. The layers of melodies and noise textures create almost tangible solid sonic forms. Formed back in 2003 they were the first shoegaze band in Latvia. The band reached local recognition for their 2004 record Running to the Sun. In 2006 they worked on their next album with Greg Haver who had previously produced Manic Street Preachers and Super Furry Animals.
